Continuing my paraphrasing of Eng. Ali Mansour Kayali's lecture with his scientific look from physics point of view, on what could possibly cause the end of life on Earth. In this part Eng. Kayali describes what possible causes may end life as described in the Holy Quran.
(النحل: 1) أَتَى أَمْرُ اللَّهِ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ )
On the Day the earth and the mountains will shake violently & the second one will follow ... Two horrifying cosmic events awaits Earth: On the day the Earth will shake: On that day the cosmic missile will hit Earth sideways. Imagine if you will: Earth is rotating as it used to do since it existed, and here comes a huge meteor and hits Earth at an angle ... not straight hit, but from an angle that causes the earth to rotate in the opposite direction. At that particular point in time, people on earth will experience --first hand-- His saying --High is He:( إِنَّ زَلْزَلَةَ السَّاعَةِ شَيْءٌ عَظِيمٌ (22 : 1 "... Verily, the earthquake of the Hour (of Judgement) is a terrible thing." (May Allah save us from that fate). The effect on earth (for the survivors) will be that they will witness the sun rising from the west and setting down at the east! In an authentic Hadeeth narrated by Abdullah Bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah --peace be upon him-- say that the first signs of The Hour is the sun rising from its Sunset ...
Part II: The Order *IS* Issued ... Don't rush it.
A thorough deep reading of the Holy Quran, will make us realize that Earth is soon to face a couple ofcolossal events that will take place within a short time span of each other!
Allah --High is He-- said:
(النحل: 1) أَتَى أَمْرُ اللَّهِ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ )(16:1) (Inevitably) cometh (to pass) the Command of Allah: seek ye not then to hasten it: (1)
The above translation of the meaning of the Holy Quran is based on Yusuf Ali Transliteration of the Holy Quran. One of the ways that we could translate the above verse is: The *Order* of Allah is issued, so do not rush it.
So from the "unforeseen" ... from the depth of the Universe a missile heading towards us (in a form of a giant meteor) --traveling at the speed of light (300,000 Km/Sec) has already been released! The order of Allah has been issued. The action --to shoot the missile-- is done and it is already over! So "don't rush it". When He --High is He-- ordered "not to be haste", it is because *speed* is in the very innate nature of this missile! This missile is heading towards Earth at the speed of light --or, perhaps, faster. With it honorable angels are floating. Those angeles will arrive slightly ahead of the missile in order to quickly reap the souls of all believers from the face of Earth, so as to spare them witnessing the horrors of the events of The Hour. This is in accordance to the Prophet's Hadeeth --peace be upon him-- in which he implied that The Hour will not take place while there is a single believer on the face of earth! (2)
Surat 79 (Al Nazi'at) gives us a graphic presentation in a fascinating way. Let us take a look on it, based on Physics point of view:
1- وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence.
2- وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers).
The Arabic text (نشطاً) --which is translated as angels "who gently take out (the souls of the believers), also indicates vigor, vitality, and speed!
3- وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits).
This verse may also refer to the angles who are swimming with the Missile.
4 - فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses).
This verse (4) indicates speed ... and that the angels are speeding ahead of the Missile. This is highlighted through using the Arabic conjunctive letter (فـ): The Arabic text clearly indicates that there is a time lapse between the missile and the angels speeding ahead of it. (3)
5- فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses).
6- يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die).
7- تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be resurrected).
Literal translation of the above verse (7) is that "the second one follows it". According to Kayyali, the "second one" is not necessarily "the second blow of the horn". Rather it could be another more serious calamity than the first major shaking (or earthquake, and volcanos).
However before we continue with Surat Al Nazi'at, the Holy Quran refers in several verses to the speed with which The End will come:
54: 50 وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ And Our Commandment is but one as the twinkling of an eye.
17:77 وَمَا أَمْرُ السَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِ الْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ ... And the matter of the Hour is not but as a twinkling of the eye, or even nearer...
So this missile might be traveling now at a speed faster than the speed of light!
7:178 : يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّي لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلَّا هُوَ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَا تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلَّا بَغْتَةً ... They ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): "When will be its appointed time?" Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (Alone). None can reveal its time but He. Heavy is its burden through the heavens and the earth. It shall not come upon you except all of a sudden." ...
Now back to Surat Al Nazi'at (79)
On the Day the earth and the mountains will shake violently & the second one will follow ... In an authentic Hadeeth narrated by Abdullah Bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah --peace be upon him-- say that the first signs of The Hour is the sun rising from its Sunset ... وعن عبدالله بن عمرو( رضي الله عنه) قال: سمعت رسول الله( صلي الله عليه وسلم) يقول: إن أول الآيات خروجا طلوع الشمس من مغربها, ...
On the calamity of that Day, Allah --High and Sublime is He-- says:
(22:2) يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّا أَرْضَعَتْ The Day you shall see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling,
In the Arabic test of this verse, Allah --High is He-- is describing the mother *in the act* of feeding her suckling baby. Under normal circumstances, and at such a point the mother is nearest to her baby, and is ready to sacrifice herself for the welfare of her infant. However, due to the huge distress of that day, even such a person will not pay attention to her suckling infant!
Back to Surat Al Nazi'at, the flow of verses is :
(79: 6-7): يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ * تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ : On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), and the second one follows it. So after this cosmic missile hits Earth, its continue its orbit towards the sun and hits it, and the sun explodes!
Modern theories say that *if* the sun explode (and we say that it will definitely do without a doubt), its size will multiply several times to become a red giant (4). This --the meteor impacting Earth, then continuing its orbit to the sun-- will happen in a relatively short succession. Modern astronomical theories say that when the Sun becomes a Red Giant it will engulf the inner planets including Mercury and Venus. The sun's expansion will probably engulf our moon as well. We believe that the borders between Earth and Sun will be the current orbit of our Moon. Allah --High is He in verses mentions this straight forward in verses (75: 9-11):
75:9 وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ And the sun and moon will be joined together.
Both will become fused in a single mass including Mercury and Venus.
57:10 - 11 يَقُولُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ المَفَرّ* الْمَفَرُّ كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" * No! There is no refuge!
At that point our atmosphere is already a flaming mass:
52: 9 - 10 يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا * وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. * And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.
The skies (firmament) will be in a dreadful motion because it is ablaze. When all this occurs it is estimated that the temperature at the Earth's surface will be Sixteen Thousand degrees Celsius! At Three Thousand Five Hundred degrees Celsius rocks start to liquify ... it is the temperature of volcanoes. At Sixteen Thousand degrees Celsius everything liquifies; it does not disintegrate yet, but all is transformed into a liquid state.
Due to the impact mentioned above, and the very high temperatures, water disintegrates into its basic components: each atom of water is transformed into two atoms of Hydrogen, and an atom of Oxygen. Yet due to the heat and the abundance of Oxygen, Hydrogen will burn with massive explosions ... adding massive flames to the flames that are already in the atmosphere. So at that point even water becomes fuel. Allah --High is He-- syas:
81: 6 وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ And when the seas become as blazing Fire or overflow.
Earth surface will be transformed into flowing lava, and all landmarks will completely disappear!
18:وَإِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا 8 And verily We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees.).
Total and complete wipe out.
So two important cosmic events are about to come to Earth, but only Allah --High is He-- knows their timing:
7: 187 لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلَّا هُوَ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ None can reveal its time but He. Heavy is its burden through the heavens and the earth.
Now that Earth has been destroyed, and is turned back to a blazing sphere --as it once was-- the Black Holes start to fold down the universe. Black Holes are not vacuum! In fact they are composed of matter with the very high density of (2 divided by 10 with 29 zeros in front of it)! Or in physics terms: 2 divided by 10 raised to the power (-29) per cubic meter! Black Holes also have a very powerful gravitational pull so that nothing ... not even light itself, escapes their gravity. Scientists have several theories about the number of, and the reason for Black Holes. One of them is that there are enough Black Holes in our universe so that one day their combined gravitational pull will overcome the expulsion power that was created by the original "Big Bang" which is causing the universe to expand today, so that the universe will "fold-back" on itself at some point in time in the far future. In Surat Al Anbiya:
(21: 104): يَوْمَ نَطْوِي السَّمَاءَ كَطَيِّ السِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ كَمَا بَدَأْنَا أَوَّلَ خَلْقٍ نُعِيدُهُ And (remember) the Day when We shall roll up the heaven like a scroll rolled up for books. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it.
So the whole universe will be folded completely (or "rolled up") in the right hand Of The Most Merciful:
39: 67 وَالْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ And on the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand.
And that is when all life forms are ended, and the whole universe revert back to nothingness. Nothing remains except:
55 : 27 وَيَبْقَى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will remain forever.
... everything reverts back to nothingness..
And then, with the second blow of the Horn, resurrection begins.... but that is another lecture.

The Hour will not take place but on the evil creation in Allah (balance). Narrated by Imam Al Hakem in AlMustadrak.
(3) For those who are interested to follow this Arabic Language issue further here is the explanation: In Arabice two letters are used as conjunctive letters: (و) and (فـ). When the conjunctive letter (و) is used, it is to indicate that two things are together or happening simultaneously. For example if we say: Ahmad and Mohammad came (using the letter (و). This automatically implies that both men came together, at the same point in time (simultaneous).
On the other hand the conjunctive Arabic letter (فـ) is used, then it indicates a slight break in time (slackness) between the two issues.
Using the above example, if we say: Ahmad and Mohammad came (using the letter (فـ), then it means that Ahmad came first and then he was shortly followed by Mohammad.
Keeping this in mind now we should continue, because Allah --High is He-- uses the conjunctive letter (و) in the first three verses, indicating that they are taking place at the same point in time (simultaneously), while He --High is He-- uses the conjunctive (فـ) in the forth and fifth verse indicating that one action is following the other.
